GCSE Textiles Year 10
GCSE students have made a brilliant start to the year, their sketchbooks look totally unique and individual! Well done, we are really looking forward to sharing more of your news this term.
Bread Making
Year 10 have made some fantastic bread today whilst studying carbohydrate science. We can’t wait to see what else these budding chefs come up with this academic year!

St Aidan’s students triumph at the annual Rotary Club Technology Tournament
The St Aidan’s Design and Technology Department assembled five teams to compete in the annual Rotary Club Technology Tournament held on Tuesday 4th February in Constance Green Hall.
Musical Success
Matilda Tasker, Year 10 student, will be performing in Harrogate Phoenix Players production of ‘Fame’! The show is running from Thursday 6th February until Saturday 8th February at Harrogate Theatre. Congratulations to Matilda!
Archery Achievement
Jessica Hardesty Dean, Year 10 student, is part of Harrogate’s St George’s Archery Club.
Year 10 Food and Nutrition Projects
Year 10 Food and Nutrition students have concluded a most successful layered dessert projects with outstanding final products. All have increased fruit content, reduced sugar and reduced fat. Looking delicious!
Sailing Success
Year 10 student, Thomas Bates, is a member of the Royal Yachting Association UK Junior Squad – Topper.
Year 10 Food and Nutrition Workshop
The Year 10 Food and Nutrition students had the amazing experience of observing and contributing to a demonstration of Cep and Trompette tortellini and a Mars Bar ice cream produced with liquid nitrogen.
Remembrance Poem written by St Aidan’s Student
Cassidy Weidemann, Year 10 student, wrote a poem for the Remembrance Festival on 11th November 2019. Cassidy is an Air Cadet Corporal of ATC (886 Squadron Ripon).
Sports Awards Evening
On Tuesday 22nd October we held our lower school sports awards evening. Students from current Year 8,9,10 were awarded medals for contributions to school sports over the last academic year.
Archery Achievement
Jessica Hardesty Dean, Year 10 student, came 2nd in the National Clout Archery competition on Saturday 19th October, receiving a Silver medal. The weekend of Saturday 26th October, Jess will compete in Penrith where she will shoot her first indoor competition using a Longbow and shooting against adults. Congratulations to Jess on this achievement!

Sri Lankan Exchange
This week, our Sri Lankan visitors have had a wonderful time in London seeing the sites, watching a west end show (Mamma Mia!) and visiting the shops.
Harvest Heap

Sri Lankans visit to the UK
Our Sri Lankan visitors are having a fantastic time visiting their St Aidan’s exchange partners. Last week they visited the Mayor, travelled to Edinburgh and Fountains Abbey, as well as enjoying time in school with their exchange partners. They have more exciting activities planned for the week ahead!
