"Life in all its fullness"

Year 8 School Trips

Year 8 students have the opportunity to visit Ullswater. The Ullswater Centre is based on the North West shore of the lake and is set in 18 acres of woodland. The accommodation is comfortable and the buildings are set in grounds that have a long waterfront on the shore of the lake. The Instructors are all well qualified and experienced and able to provide a challenging, yet rewarding experience for all participants.

Courses at the Centre are tailor-made to the requirements of schools. We would follow the ‘Adventure and Challenge’ model which encourages young people to push themselves beyond their expectations and develop learning about self and others. The location allows us to make full use of the lake, including such activities as kayaking, canoeing, raft building and rowing.

In addition, hill walking, rock climbing, gorge walking, scrambling and mountain navigation are all available, with the opportunity of staying in a high mountain hut as part of an expedition. The week long course is based in stunning scenery under Helvellyn – one of The Lake District’s highest peaks.

Centre-based activities at Ullswater include high ropes, a zip wire and a variety of challenging initiative tasks.
