Ullswater

Published in Year 8 Trips

Residential Trip from Monday 9th December 2019 to Friday 13th December 2019

The Ullswater Centre is based on the North West shore of the lake and is set in 18 acres of woodland. The accommodation is comfortable and the buildings are set in grounds that have a long waterfront on the shore of the lake. The Instructors are all well qualified and experienced and able to provide a challenging, yet rewarding experience for all participants.

Courses at the Centre are tailor-made to the requirements of schools. We would follow the ‘Adventure and Challenge’ model which encourages young people to push themselves beyond their expectations and develop learning about self and others. The location allows us to make full use of the lake, including such activities as kayaking, canoeing, raft building and rowing.

In addition, hill walking, rock climbing, gorge walking, scrambling and mountain navigation are all available, with the opportunity of staying in a high mountain hut as part of an expedition. The week long course is based in stunning scenery under Helvellyn – one of The Lake District’s highest peaks.

Centre-based activities at Ullswater include high ropes, a zip wire and a variety of challenging initiative tasks.

Junior Music Residential

Published in Year 7 Trips  |  Year 8 Trips  |  Year 9 Trips

Residential Trip from Friday 31st January 2020 to Sunday 2nd February 2020

This weekend trip (Friday after school to Sunday afternoon) is a chance for our Year 7, 8 and 9 junior musicians in the Junior Band and String Ensemble to make music, socialise and have fun.

Typically, coach travel is provided to the accommodation, which is The Stableside Hostel at York Racecourse and whilst the children are there, we take the opportunity for outdoor games in and around the racecourse, a 10 pin bowling trip, cabaret and DVD night, Sunday morning worship and of course lots of rehearsal time. The weekend culminates in a Sunday afternoon concert, to which parents are invited. The trip is very well established and usually has an uptake of between 60 – 70 students.
