Politics trip 1

This has long been a popular trip two-night trip among Year 12 students.

We travel to London by coach in time for a picnic lunch in the grounds of the Imperial War Museum, which we then explore. It is then a short walk to the London Eye to enjoy panoramic views of the capital from a 'flight'. After an evening meal we end the day with a trip to the theatre.

The next day we enjoy a tour of Parliament plus a workshop in the Education Unit and a meeting with the local MP. After lunch we head to the wonderfully-preserved Churchill War Rooms, which provide an evocative experience of wartime Britain. We also take in some of the main sights in central London including Downing Street, Trafalgar Square and Buckingham Palace. We then have time in Covent Garden where students can peruse the shops and enjoy watching the street performers. After an evening meal, we then enjoy another play or show.

After breakfast on the last day students have some free time on Oxford Street before heading back to Harrogate. We have found that this trip is popular because it has the right blend of educational value, cultural enrichment, sight-seeing and fun.
