News

Can your business or the business you work at help St Aidan’s?

Friends of St Aidan’s (FOSA) are a group of parents who organise fundraising events for the school. Most recently these events have included: Family Fest and Quiz and Curry Night.

In the last three years, thanks to all the people who came, or sponsored or donated to our events FOSA has raised nearly £30,000 for the school. These funds have been donated back to the school in a way that can benefit as many children as possible including £22,000 for the replacement mini bus and sports team kit.

How can you or your business help?

We are looking for businesses to kindly donate prizes suitable for our events.

Alongside Vitsa Denture Laboratory and clinic and Hartlaw lp Solicitors, we are also looking for local businesses who would like to have their brand or organisation associated with this exciting event by becoming sponsors.

Please contact us if you think you might be able to help k.caine@staidans.co.uk

Wreath Making Working in association with Horticap - November 2025

Thanks to all who came and supported FOSA’s wreath making workshop this evening.

It was a twinkly event where guests were greeted with a glass of fizz and a homemade treat before getting creative with their wreaths under the guidance of the wonderful Erica and Emma from Horticap.

Earlier in the day, their colleagues and students delivered all the supplies  - huge thanks to all the Horticap team for making the event so festive and such a success!

We were also very lucky to recieve a generous donation of seasonal decor from Florelle International giving our wreaths the extra wow factor!

Thanks as always must go to the Friends of St. Aidan’s team for supporting school through fundraising events such as this - all funds raised will go towards projects that benefit our students!

Year 7 and 8 Quiz Night - October 2025

What a fantastic evening we had at our Family Quiz Night for Year 7 & 8!

Hosted by the wonderful Mrs Parris – our much-loved English teacher and literacy lead (you might’ve spotted her on ITV’s Beat the Chasers last Sunday – still time to catch it!) - the quiz was packed with fun, laughter, and some seriously great questions!

Huge thanks to everyone who came along and joined in the fun – and to Miss Reynard, Head of Year 7, for expertly keeping the scores in check!

Thanks to our superb tech team for creating the atmosphere with the fantastic lighting and tech support!

Congratulations to our winning teams who walked away with some well-deserved chocolatey treats!

And of course, a massive shoutout to Friends of St. Aidan’s for all your hard work organising the event – every penny raised will go towards student-focused projects in school.

Family Fest July 2025

On 5 July 2025, we gathered as a school community for the 4th Family Fest!

Friends of St. Aidan’s (FOSA) put on a great event complete with a football tournament, food supplied by our fantastic catering team, tombola, raffle, chess, preloved uniform sale, games run by our students, performances from Spotlight - there was even a cake stall judged by TV presenter Christine Talbot . Thanks to Your Harrogate presenter Alex Cann for once again compering the event - we truly value the support you give each year!

We welcomed families from across the school community, but it was particularly good to see many of our incoming Year 7s enjoying the afternoon.

FOSA were delighted to have raised over £2500. This money will buy items that benefit all the students in our school.

FOSA would love more members to join their friendly team, so they can continue to raise funds which can be spent on things that enhance the experience our students have at St. Aidan’s during their time here. If you would like to join FOSA, please email friendsofstaidans@gmail.com

Curry and Quiz Night 2024

FOSA’s first ever Quiz and Curry night, hosted brilliantly by Mrs Parris, was great fun! In a bid to win the much coveted box of Quality Street (and prestige of being the winning team), 10 teams battled it out with rounds including ‘Are you as clever as a Year 7?’

Congratulations to the winning team ‘What a Performance’ and Mrs Parris for an outstanding quiz, the Curry Counter for providing a delicious curry, and to all who joined us on the night.
