The PSHE curriculum at St. Aidan’s links to our whole school curriculum intent statement. PSHE supports students in becoming confident, respectful, and responsible individuals who are prepared to lead safe, healthy, and fulfilling lives.
Our curriculum equips students with the knowledge, skills, and values needed to navigate an ever-changing world, both in and beyond school. Structured around key strands - health and wellbeing, relationships, and living in the wider world - our PSHE programme develops students’ understanding of themselves, others, and the world around them. They explore topics such as mental health, online safety, consent, diversity, financial literacy, and career planning, gaining tools to make informed decisions and manage risk. We place a strong emphasis on wellbeing and personal development, creating space for students to reflect, discuss, and build resilience. Lessons are age-appropriate, inclusive, and responsive to real-life challenges, supporting students’ spiritual, moral, social, and cultural growth. PSHE at St. Aidan’s is sequenced to build knowledge and confidence over time. It supports academic learning by strengthening communication, self-regulation, and interpersonal skills. Assessment is based on reflection and engagement, with regular opportunities for feedback and support. Our aim is to prepare students not just for exams, but for life- helping them thrive as informed, respectful, and engaged members of their communities.

Sustainability within PSHE
In our PSHE programme, sustainability is taught as a key part of personal and social responsibility. Students learn how their choices - from what they buy to how they travel and eat - affect the environment and global communities. We explore topics like climate change, ethical consumption, and the importance of protecting natural resources. Discussions focus on building habits that support long-term wellbeing for individuals and the planet. By encouraging reflection, informed decision-making, and a sense of shared responsibility, we help students understand that living sustainably isn’t just about the environment- it’s about caring for ourselves, others, and the future we all share.
