Sport
Hebrews 12:1
“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.”
The BTEC Sport curriculum at St. Aidan’s links to our whole school curriculum intent statement. BTEC Sport provides students with the knowledge, practical skills, and confidence to succeed in both academic and vocational pathways within the sports and fitness industry.
The course combines theoretical understanding with real-world application, supporting students to develop essential skills that go beyond the classroom. Students explore key areas such as anatomy and physiology, fitness training, sports performance, leadership, and the impact of lifestyle on health. This builds a strong foundation in both scientific and practical aspects of sport. Learning is applied through assignments, presentations, and practical assessments that mirror professional practice, helping students understand the relevance and value of their learning. Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to support progression and deepen understanding over time. Students are taught how to plan training programmes, lead sporting activities, and evaluate performance- all while building key transferable skills such as communication, organisation, teamwork, and problem-solving. Assessment is ongoing and varied, enabling all students to track progress and respond to feedback. We aim to support every learner- whether they’re aspiring to careers in sport, health, or public services, or simply want to lead a more active lifestyle. BTEC Sport empowers students to take ownership of their development and prepares them for further education, employment, or apprenticeships in the sports sector.
