Proverbs 4:23
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”

The Psychology curriculum at St. Aidan’s links to our whole school curriculum intent statement. Psychology gives students the tools to explore human behaviour, thought, and emotion—encouraging curiosity, empathy, and critical thinking

Through the study of the mind and behaviour, students gain insight into themselves and others, preparing them for a wide range of future pathways in education, health, and social science. The curriculum is structured to build secure understanding of key psychological approaches, research methods, and real-world applications. Students investigate topics such as memory, attachment, mental health, social influence, and criminal psychology, linking theory to everyday experience. Throughout the course, students develop the ability to analyse evidence, evaluate arguments, and understand the ethical considerations that shape psychological research. Literacy is embedded through extended writing and the use of subject-specific terminology, while statistical and analytical skills are developed through interpreting data and designing investigations. Psychology supports the wider aims of St. Aidan’s by encouraging students to think deeply, communicate clearly, and reflect on human dignity and wellbeing. It builds the resilience and awareness needed to engage thoughtfully with a complex world. Through expert teaching, inclusive support, and a values-led approach, Psychology at St Aidan’s enables students to grow in knowledge, confidence, and character—ready to make a positive impact in whatever path they choose.
