Acts 2:6
“When they heard this sound, a crowd came together...because each one heard their own language being spoken.”

The Languages curriculum at St. Aidan’s links to our whole school curriculum intent statement. At St. Aidan’s, learning a language opens doors—to new cultures, new perspectives, and a deeper understanding of the world.

Our Languages curriculum inspires curiosity, builds confidence, and empowers students to communicate meaningfully beyond their own borders. Through a carefully structured sequence of learning, students develop the key skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing, while gaining a strong grasp of vocabulary and grammar. We teach language not in isolation, but as a tool for connection—helping students explore identity, celebrate diversity, and engage with global issues. We believe that learning another language expands students’ thinking, enhances memory, and strengthens literacy in both English and the target language. Lessons are rich in cultural insight and real-world relevance, showing students how language shapes the way people live, think, and relate to one another.

Enrichment experiences, including trips, exchanges, and cultural events, bring learning to life and raise aspirations. Language learning also supports future careers in business, diplomacy, education, and beyond. Rooted in our Christian ethos and the belief in “life in all its fullness,” our curriculum nurtures empathy, curiosity, and global citizenship—preparing students to play an active role in a multilingual, interconnected world.
