Drama
Matthew 5:16
“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”
The Drama curriculum at St. Aidan’s links to our whole school curriculum intent statement. Drama challenges students to step into new roles, explore diverse perspectives, and find their voice.
It is a subject that nurtures creativity, empathy, and confidence—key qualities for thriving in a complex and ever-changing world. Through performance, devising, and analysis, students learn how to express ideas, work collaboratively, and communicate with impact. The curriculum is built in carefully sequenced steps that develop both technical skill and emotional depth, enabling students to grow as reflective performers and critical thinkers. Drama encourages students to engage with real-world issues, human experiences, and cultural stories. It cultivates resilience, imagination, and a strong sense of self—all of which prepare students for success in school and beyond. Literacy is embedded through script work, evaluation, and verbal expression, helping students articulate ideas with clarity and confidence. Rooted in our Christian ethos, Drama values inclusivity, compassion, and community. Through enrichment opportunities like performances, theatre visits, and workshops, students are inspired to aim high, express themselves with authenticity, and connect meaningfully with others. At St. Aidan’s, Drama is more than performance—it’s a space where students grow in confidence, develop their character, and begin to shape a life full of creativity, courage, and purpose.
