Psalm 149:3
“Let them praise his name with dancing.”

The Dance curriculum at St. Aidan’s links to our whole school curriculum intent statement. Dance at St. Aidan’s gives students the freedom to express themselves, the discipline to grow, and the creativity to connect with the world in new ways.

Through movement, performance, and choreography, students develop physical skill, emotional awareness, and artistic confidence. Our curriculum is structured to build technique, creativity, and critical thinking step by step. Students explore a range of styles, practitioners, and cultural influences, learning to appreciate dance as both an art form and a means of communication. They refine their performance and compositional skills while gaining the ability to evaluate and reflect with clarity and purpose. Dance develops more than ability—it builds resilience, teamwork, self-belief, and the confidence to take risks. These qualities support students not just in the studio, but in every area of life, helping them to grow as individuals with voice, vision, and presence. In line with our Christian ethos, Dance encourages students to value expression, diversity, and community. Enrichment opportunities—such as showcases, workshops, and external performances—widen horizons and raise aspirations. At St Aidan’s, Dance is a journey of discipline and discovery, helping students move with confidence through the world and towards a life rich in experience, creativity, and meaning.
