Music
Psalm 150:4-5
“Praise him with the timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe.”
The Music curriculum at St. Aidan’s links to our whole school curriculum intent statement. Music gives every student the opportunity to create, perform, and connect through sound. It is a subject that builds confidence, sparks imagination, and nurtures emotional expression—enriching students' lives both in and beyond the classroom.
Our curriculum is carefully sequenced to develop technical skill, musical understanding, and creative flair. Students learn to listen critically, compose with purpose, and perform with precision across a range of genres, instruments, and styles. Whether working independently or in ensemble, they grow in discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Music opens doors to culture, history, and global perspectives, helping students make meaningful connections with the world around them. Through singing, playing, and composing, students discover new ways of communicating and thinking—developing not only their musicality but their identity and confidence. Rooted in our Christian ethos, Music at St. Aidan’s fosters inclusion, celebration, and shared experience. Enrichment is a vital part of the offer, with choirs, ensembles, trips, and performances helping students deepen their engagement and raise their aspirations. In Music, students don’t just learn notes and rhythms—they discover joy, purpose, and a voice that carries. It’s a subject that helps them live, lead, and flourish with creativity and confidence.
