Galatians 6:2
“Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”

The Health and Social Care curriculum at St. Aidan’s links to our whole school curriculum intent statement. Health and Social Care prepares students to understand and support the physical, emotional, and social needs of others across all stages of life.

It is a subject rooted in compassion, responsibility, and the belief that everyone deserves dignity, respect, and quality care. The curriculum is carefully structured to build deep knowledge of human development, health and wellbeing, and the principles that underpin effective care and support. Through applied learning, students explore real-world scenarios and develop the confidence to make informed decisions, communicate sensitively, and reflect critically on their practice. Assessment is based on both coursework and exam content, allowing students to demonstrate their understanding through investigation, analysis, and real-life application. Literacy is embedded through structured writing and the use of technical terminology, while discussion and collaboration help students grow in empathy and clarity. Through this subject, students gain more than academic knowledge—they develop personal integrity, emotional awareness, and a strong sense of social responsibility. These qualities reflect the Christian ethos of St. Aidan’s and support students to become thoughtful, capable individuals who are ready to contribute positively to the lives of others and thrive in both further study and future care-based careers.
