Luke 14:28
“Suppose one of you wants to build a tower. Won’t you first sit down and estimate the cost?”

The Science curriculum at St Aidan’s links to our whole school curriculum intent statement. Science enables students to explore the workings of the natural world through knowledge, inquiry, and discovery.

Through the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, our curriculum builds secure understanding, sparks curiosity, and equips students with the skills to think critically, solve problems, and ask meaningful questions about the world around them. The curriculum is carefully structured from Key Stage 3 onwards, with content delivered in clear, logical steps that allow students to deepen their understanding over time. Practical science is integral to this journey—students learn to investigate, test, and evaluate through hands-on experiments that build confidence and scientific thinking. Scientific literacy is embedded throughout. Students are taught to communicate ideas clearly, interpret data accurately, and apply subject-specific vocabulary with precision. These skills are essential not only for academic success but for engaging thoughtfully with real-world issues. Science at St Aidan’s also encourages reflection on the impact of scientific progress - socially, ethically, and globally. While building strong academic foundations, the curriculum also supports personal growth, encouraging resilience, curiosity, and integrity. With expert teaching and a supportive learning environment, students are equipped to succeed in further study, careers, and life- ready to lead, contribute, and thrive in a changing world.
