Dance and Drama Programme of Clubs
ExtraâCurricular Drama
Drama at St. Aidan’s is a highâprofile and extremely popular extraâcurricular activity for all ages. At KS3 (Years 7–9), Drama Clubs run throughout the year, and no previous experience is required. These sessions offer an ideal opportunity to make friends, build confidence, and develop communication skills in a safe and nurturing environment.
Students gain performance opportunities throughout the year, including involvement in our major school productions and participation in Spotlight, the KS3 Performing Arts event.
There are also Sixth Form audition workshops available for students interested in pursuing a career in the performing arts industry.
ExtraâCurricular Dance
Dance is a thriving extraâcurricular activity at Key Stage 3 at St Aidan’s, with large numbers of students taking part. Dance Clubs for Years 7, 8, and 9 run on rotation throughout the year, offering a range of performance opportunities. Students of all experience levels are encouraged to join an activity that enriches their school life, builds confidence, develops teamwork and friendships, and promotes positive physical and mental wellbeing.
KS3 Dance Clubs contribute regularly to Spotlight, where over 200 students from Years 7–9 showcase their dance, drama, and singing work.
The Dance department also contributes heavily to our school productions. During exam season, GCSE and A Level Dance students often seek dancers from across year groups to take part in choreography work, and the studios are always a hive of activity with pieces being created. Older students are encouraged to support lowerâschool clubs, developing their skills while passing on their knowledge to younger dancers.
School Productions
St. Aidan’s has a wellâestablished reputation for producing professional, topâquality productions. Previous shows include Les Misérables, Evita, West Side Story, School of Rock, Sister Act, The Little Mermaid, Annie, and Fame.
Both the Drama and Dance departments play key roles in these productions, giving students from a variety of year groups the chance to take part in highâlevel performance experiences.
