Last week St Aidan’s enjoyed a spectacular run of the School Production ‘We Will Rock You’. Well done to all cast and crew, staff and students that were involved in this fabulous production!

Chris Bradford, author of the popular ‘Young Samurai’ and ‘Bodyguard’ series of books visited school this week and entertained Years 7 and 8 with his martial arts and bodyguard techniques.
Year 7 student, Jaeda Nim, competed with her Gymnastics team on Saturday 19th October at Catterick Sports Centre where the squad came 1st and became Yorkshire Champions at Level 3.
Year 10 student, Thomas Bates, is a member of the Royal Yachting Association UK Junior Squad – Topper.
The Year 10 Food and Nutrition students had the amazing experience of observing and contributing to a demonstration of Cep and Trompette tortellini and a Mars Bar ice cream produced with liquid nitrogen.
Yesterday we were delighted to host PWC in our Careers department who were speaking to students about Careers in Business and Finance.

Our Associated Sixth Form students had a fantastic day of fundraising on Friday 15th November for Children in Need. The combined fundraising total for Main School and Sixth Form on Friday was £3402.12. And still counting!!
The tiered seating is up and ready in Constance Green Hall ahead of the opening night of We Will Rock You!
Krish Desha-Beerachee, Year 8 student, performed at the Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts Piano Festival which took place at Christchurch, Ilkley from 15th-17th October, where he was also invited to perform at the final concert on the 18th October.
We Will Rock You cast and crew had their final Sunday rehearsal this weekend ahead of opening night tomorrow. Please come and support this fantastic production! We are fundraising today in school for Children in Need! All Main School students were invited to attend in denim (or even better, double denim!) and the Associated Sixth Form students are in fancy dress.

We were delighted to welcome former student Emily Harrington to school to lead workshops with our Sixth Form Dance and Performing Arts classes. Emily has just finished the UK tour of Grease the musical and previously she has performed in Miss Saigon and Starlight Express.
Ahead of Children in Need on Friday, yesterday our Associated Sixth Form begun fundraising already by leading an Auction in the Sixth Form Cafe!
On Saturday 9th November, all four Cross Country teams – Junior girls, Junior boys, Inter girls and Inter boys – came 1st or 2nd at the ESSA Cross Country Regional finals, held at Stewart Park in Middlesbrough. This means they have qualified for the National finals!
Cassidy Weidemann, Year 10 student, wrote a poem for the Remembrance Festival on 11th November 2019. Cassidy is an Air Cadet Corporal of ATC (886 Squadron Ripon).
To mark Armistice Day, the bell rang at 11.00am and all staff and students observed 2 minutes silence.
