In March, Our Year 9 students travelled to Australia to spend 3 weeks with their exchange partners from Carey Baptist Grammar School. They had a fantastic trip! More details to follow soon…
Over 65 employers, universities, colleges and training providers attended our annual Careers Evening in Constance Green Hall on Thursday 14th March. This was a fantastic event – thank you to all staff, students and parents who supported this evening.
The arena was set for the ‘Sumo Push off’ raising funds for our Comic Relief fundraising on Friday 15th March!
Eddie Murray, Year 10 student, played at the National Squash Tournament, London back in February.
Year 8 Spelling Bee took place on Friday 8th March, with each Form cheering on their fellow students! The Group Winners were 8D and the individual Spelling Bee Winner was Archie Jackson, 8W.
Well done to all the Year 13 A Level Dance students who had their performance evening this March. Also well done and thank you to students from both schools who performed in the choreography pieces.
On Wednesday 6th March, Year 12 students attended a presentation on employment and apprenticeships in order to raise awareness for some of the amazing opportunities available after Sixth Form.
Some of our Sixth Form students enjoyed a wonderful week skiing in Superdevoluy, France in February Half Term.
This March, Year 12 students spent a week in Salamanca enhancing their language skills and enjoying the local environment. They stayed with host families and attended the language school during the day. It was a great way for our students to improve their Spanish.
On Tuesday 5th March, eight of our Year 10 students enjoyed two and a half hours at a Maths Feast! Well done to both teams who were commended for scoring highly in all rounds!
On Monday 4th March, St Aidan’s hosted the NE Regional Finals of the ESU Mace competition. Six teams travelled from Morpeth, Newcastle, York, Hull and Sheffield to take part in three debates.
We were delighted to host a visit by the BBC on Friday 22nd February, when they talked to all Year 9 students about career opportunities in the creative industries.

Beth Miller, Year 10 student, was the first placed girl and an impressive second overall at the RS Tera Pro World Championships at RS Games in Weymouth Portland, sailing in the 66-strong RS Tera Pro Fleet for older juniors in the class, likewise having to contend with some strong breezes.
The launch of the Music Association’s new Start the Music Initiative, to provide free lessons and free instruments on loan to St Aidan’s students, was a great success last night!
Last week we held a wonderful Valentines Jazz Evening in Constance Green Hall.
Congratulations to Emilia Johnson and Sam Watts, Year 11 students, who have both secured places in the National Youth Band, playing Trombone and Tenor Horn. We wish them every success in this fantastic achievement.
Eddie Murray in Year 10 has qualified to play in a National Squash Competition to be held in London between 16th and 18th February. Many congratulations to Eddie on this achievement and we wish him well in the competition.
