Mock Election – Hustings

Published on 11th Dec 2019 in Politics | Sixth Form

The Hustings was a great success yesterday in the Drama Studio, ahead of the Mock Election being held in school on Thursday 12th December. Well done to the candidates!

The school’s mock election has been conducted in a spirit of friendly rivalry. Four parties have been set up, reflecting the political choice voters have in Harrogate and Knaresborough. The candidates have spoken to students in assemblies where they have explained their party’s policies and ideas. The candidates also faced an audience of over 100 students from all year-groups. Questions ranged from Brexit and democracy to the environment and NHS. There was special interest in what the parties offered young people. On Thursday the whole school will have the chance to vote. The result will be announced in assembly on Friday morning.
