Introduction

This is an involving and engaging vocational GCSE equivalent qualification option for students who have an interest in Health and in People; and wish to develop skills and learn the theory that can prepare them for further study and employment within this sector.

KS4

In Year 10 and 11 we offer Health and Social Care Level 1/2 Cambridge National Award. 3 units of the course (75%) are assessed through coursework.

Communicating well with clients and patients

Diseases of the heart, lungs and digestive system

Nutrition and diet

1 unit (25%) is assessed in an exam, on how clients and patients are cared for in care settings like nurseries, hospitals and care homes.

KS5

Our Health and Social Care Level 3 course is split into six units across Year 12 and Year 13.  Again this is a large proportion of coursework, with final exams also assessing some parts of the course.

Additional Learning Resources

Please speak to your Health and Social Care teacher regarding additional learning resources within the subject.

Students can gain further insight into the subject by watching and thinking about television series such as ‘Secret Life of 4 Year Olds’, ‘Hospital’ or ‘One Born Every Minute’.
