Year 10 Food and Nutrition Projects
Year 10 Food and Nutrition students have concluded a most successful layered dessert projects with outstanding final products. All have increased fruit content, reduced sugar and reduced fat. Looking delicious!
Year 7 Public Speaking Competition
Since half term, the English Department have been teaching Year 7 about persuasive writing skills and the art of constructing a well-researched argument. Pupils have learnt how to form a viewpoint from which to write, the use of rhetorical and persuasive techniques and the impact of their choice of language and style of delivery on an audience.
Art Department Weekly Update

Year 12 Law Programme Event
Our Year 12 cohort who applied for the Law Programme (LAP) had their first event in Leeds on the evening of Wednesday 27th November.
Gingerbread House Demonstration!
Year 9 students were treated to a Gingerbread House Demonstration from chefs at Baltzersen’s ahead of the Gingerbread House Competition in a couple of weeks.
ESU Mace Debating Competition
Well done to Alfie Tyrell, Owen Spafford and Dan Alcock on their win in the first round debate of the ESU Mace competition. They were worthy winners!
Chess Tournament Achievement
Archie Lusted, Year 7 student, came 3rd in the Harrogate Secondary Schools Chess Tournament on Saturday 23rd November. Archie is a member of the Harrogate Youth Chess Club and he was one of the youngest in the tournament. Congratulations!
We Will Rock You
Last week St Aidan’s enjoyed a spectacular run of the School Production ‘We Will Rock You’. Well done to all cast and crew, staff and students that were involved in this fabulous production!
Art Department Update

Author Visit
Chris Bradford, author of the popular ‘Young Samurai’ and ‘Bodyguard’ series of books visited school this week and entertained Years 7 and 8 with his martial arts and bodyguard techniques.
Gymnastics Achievement
Year 7 student, Jaeda Nim, competed with her Gymnastics team on Saturday 19th October at Catterick Sports Centre where the squad came 1st and became Yorkshire Champions at Level 3.
Sailing Success
Year 10 student, Thomas Bates, is a member of the Royal Yachting Association UK Junior Squad – Topper.
Year 10 Food and Nutrition Workshop
The Year 10 Food and Nutrition students had the amazing experience of observing and contributing to a demonstration of Cep and Trompette tortellini and a Mars Bar ice cream produced with liquid nitrogen.
Careers Talk for Sixth Form
Yesterday we were delighted to host PWC in our Careers department who were speaking to students about Careers in Business and Finance.

Children in Need – Associated Sixth Form
Our Associated Sixth Form students had a fantastic day of fundraising on Friday 15th November for Children in Need. The combined fundraising total for Main School and Sixth Form on Friday was £3402.12. And still counting!!
The stage is set for We Will Rock You!

Student Pianist Success
Krish Desha-Beerachee, Year 8 student, performed at the Wharfedale Festival of Performing Arts Piano Festival which took place at Christchurch, Ilkley from 15th-17th October, where he was also invited to perform at the final concert on the 18th October.

We Will Rock You cast and crew had their final Sunday rehearsal this weekend ahead of opening night tomorrow. Please come and support this fantastic production!
