Health Zone
Being healthy is not just about having a healthy body or mind, it is also about spiritual health. Being human consists of all these things, body, mind and spirit; we are spiritual beings just as much as we are physical beings, and yet, when the going gets tough people often write off the spiritual as unimportant.
Good spiritual health is characterised by an underlying sense of peace and oneness with God, others and self. This doesn't mean that we don't have all of the human emotions as well - Jesus demonstrated anger, frustration and sorrow, as well as joy and happiness.
When our spiritual health is not good, so we experience a deep unease and a sense of alientation from God, others and self.
In truth, most people will experience both of these ways of being as they journey through life. Painful life experiences such as relationship breakdown, deterioration of physical health or bereavement can impact on our spiritual health, but it is also important to remember that the things that we do will have an impact on our spiritual health. |

If you mess around with things of the occult, like Ouija boards, tarot cards, or seances, of if you look to find self-satisfaction or comfort through things like sex, drugs or alcohol, then you will find that your spiritual health deteriorates (as well as having implications for your physical and mental health) and you will begin to lose sense of who you are.
These things appear to be attractive for all sorts of reasons, and most people struggle with some of this stuff at some point in their lives, but it can be very difficult to deal with by yourself. Whilst the internet might help provde some insights to the spiritual life there is no substitute for a "soul guide" who can, in confidence, listen to your story and offer prayer and some insight to help you find a way forward - no situation is hopeless. The school chaplain, Reverend Pete Askew, is available to students and staff for this, or he can help you find someone else if you prefer.
