St. Aidan's & Charity
It is integral to the school's mission, and has been for many many years, that we should hold at the front of our minds the needs of others less privileged than ourselves. The scriptural evidence could not be clearer, the Gospel comment to love your neighbour as yourself is buttressed by Paul's view that "these three remain: faith, hope and love: and the greatest is love". The words, however, are very easy to say and it is perfectly legitimate for onlookers to ask us to provide hard evidence that we mean it.
We have in post a Charities Co-ordinator, Mr Tim Pocock, who holds a paid post to drive this work forward. He answers to a highly committed Charities Committee who plan and energise the programme each year. Not a week goes by without a charity project of some kind being at the forefront of our day to day thinking.
Current projects involve raising money for Buzzibwera in Uganda, Zawadi - which has been set up by a group of Year 12 students to support the Neema Project in Tanzania (click the link to find out more about how you can get involved with Zawadi) as well as ongoing fundraising activities to support the larger charities.
