Helen Mort Visit
During April, the writer Helen Mort came into school for the day to run a number of workshops and talk to the Year 10s in the hall. Helen is a celebrated poet, a five-times winner of the Foyle Young Poets award; she has also received an Eric Gregory Award from The Society of Authors. Her first full collection, Division Street, was shortlisted for both the T.S. Eliot Prize and the Costa Prize. Her second collection is No Map Could Show Them. Helen said she enjoyed the atmosphere in St Aidan’s. She helped the pupils to write their own work as well as describing her passion for climbing and how she has run a sub-three hour marathon!
