Year 9 School Trips

In Year 9 pupils have a choice of simultaneous trips in June:

Performing Arts

A London theatre tour which includes attending three of the most exciting productions on the London stage, a visit to the BBC and workshops based both in London and back at school in Harrogate.

Any pupil thinking of music, dance or drama as an option for Year 10 may wish to consider this trip.

Visit To Valkenburg

This is an excellent opportunity for both boys and girls with a particular interest in football and hockey to combine 3 fixtures with local clubs with sightseeing in the surrounding area.

Based in the cosmopolitan town of Valkenburg, close to the borders of Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg, visits across the borders makes this a truly ‘european’ trip. One such trip is into Germany to visit its largest theme park Phantasialand, with fantastic roller coasters and rides not for the faint hearted!

Rhine, Germany

This is an exciting opportunity for Year 9 students to visit one of the most breathtakingly beautiful parts of Germany, to discover the cultural highlights of the region and for those learning German to improve their speaking skills.

Amsterdam

We are very excited to offer a brand new Year 9 trip to Amsterdam for students to enhance students’ learning experiences within school. Amsterdam is the Netherlands’ capital, known for its artistic heritage, elaborate canal system and narrow houses with gabled facades. Its Museum District houses the Van Gogh Museum, works by Rembrandt and Vermeer at the Rijksmuseum, and modern art at the Stedelijk.

Sorrento

This five day trip to Italy provides an opportunity for students with an interest in geography to see how tectonic activity has created a unique enviroment and how volcanic activity has impacted on people. It also provides the opportunity to look at how landscape and climate influences the way of life and economy of the area.

Australian Exchange

An additional opportunity for Year 9’s is the Australian Exchange with a school in Melbourne.  The students go to Australia for six weeks in the spring term and the Australians return for six weeks in the summer.
