religious studies AS level specification

The course is based on the study of the Philosophy of Religion and of Ethics. There are three modules:

  • The foundation module which introduces the basic ideas and methods for the Philosophy of Religion and Ethics
  • Philosophy of Religion
  • Ethics

Philosophy begins with a background study of themes from the work of Plato and Aristotle. Then other topics in Philosophy include investigation of the concept of God, arguments for the existence of God and the issue of miracles. The Ethics elements include a study of some of the different ethical codes used in contemporary society and how they may be applied in medicine and the environment.
