Religious Studies Key Stage 3 Activities

Year 7 Visit to Christ Church

The annual visit to Christ Church takes place in October. Christ Church is our local parish church and we have long established links. The visit is always enjoyable, there are a number of activities - looking around the Church, of course, but also looking and the fine array of vestments and trying some on, looking at the environment in which the Church is set and considering the many aspects of the work of the Church in the local community.

Year 8 World Religions Day

This is a day off timetable for all the Year 8 pupils. A professional Indian dance group leads part of the day presenting and explaining Indian music and dance. This session is always very active! Other activities include ICT quizzes and virtual tours of places of worship, as well as games. There is drama and opportunity to try on a sari or to paint with mendi for those who want to.

Year 9 Ethics Workshops

All Year 9 have some time off timetable for an introduction to ethical theory and decision making. The sessions start with a talk from a visitor with a special interest in ethics - this year one of our local vicars. There are quizzes, discussion and worksheets.

Visits to Places of Worship

These take place when possible. We have links with our local synagogue and with a Hindu mandir and Islamic mosque.
