Philosophy of Religion with Ethics
This course has two parts but does not have coursework
The philosophy topics are:-
- The Nature of God - this looks at the idea of God with specific study of Christian beliefs about God and the Bible
- Religion and Science - this is about the nature of religion and of science and includes a study of Creation and of the Big Bang Theory as well as Christian stewardship
- Death & The Afterlife - this starts with an investigation of the idea of soul and of heaven and hell and concludes with work on Christian funeral rites
- Good & Evil - asks why there is evil in the world and how the existence of evil can be reconciled in Christian teaching
The ethics topics are:-
- Religion and Human Relationships - this focuses on Christian marriage and family and includes thinking about sexual relationships, contraception and divorce
- Religion and Medical Ethics - this is about abortion and fertility treatment, euthanasia and suicide and animal experimentation
- Religion and Equality - has a focus on racism, women in society and Christian approaches to other world religions. There is teaching on justice, forgiveness and reconciliation
- Religion, Peace & Justice - includes decisions about war and about the treatment of criminals
- Religion, Poverty & Wealth - discusses development issues and Christian attitudes to wealth
