Staff:

Politics is taught within the History department. Mr Foster is in charge of the subject and leads a team including Mrs Arblaster, Mr Bradford and Dr Murray. At present we have four groups of students in Year 12 and two in Year 13 studying Politics in the 6th Form, two are taught at St. Aidans and one at St John Fisher.

Why should I study Politics?

Pick up a newspaper, switch on the TV: you can't escape. Politics is all around you! The effects of political decisions touch every one of our lives whether it is through tax changes, the organization of the NHS, the introduction of university tuition fees, ID cards or the huge constitutional changes taking place. Studying Government and Politics will help you understand the forces that shape government decisions and the way they are reached and implemented. This will give you a greater understanding of our political system and how it functions. The Syllabus centres on different aspects of British politics today.
