the ICT Department

ICT is forever moving forward; and the teaching of ICT must also move forward if students are going to be e-confident learners. Students need to be taught the skills and the capability to use ICT as a tool for learning, as well as how to adapt quickly and safely to new ways of learning as they emerge.

  • Develop e-confident learners who have the capability to use ICT effectively and safely in all areas of their learning
  • Promote the innovative and positive use of ICT systems and applications
  • Enable students to meet the entitlement as stated in the National Curriculum
  • Develop an awareness of the scope of ICT applications and how best to use ICT as a tool for finding things out, developing ideas and making things happen and exchanging and sharing information
  • Encourage students to achieve their potential; recognising routes for specialising in ICT as they progress, as well as making use of ICT within other subjects

iMark VLE – A Virtual Learning Environment

The ICT department is piloting the use of a VLE. In conjunction with the intranet resources, materials are provided online and staff and students have secure individual access to features such as:

  • The iPortfolio folder for uploading and organising assignment work
  • Discussion forums for sharing information and support
  • Quiz: a testing environment for progress quizzes and surveys

To access the iMark VLE, you need to log in to the St. Aidan's Intranet, using the link provided at the top of the page. Once you have logged in then you will be able to use the link to the VLE as you would at school.

For more information on how to log in to the Intranet and iMark VLE, read through these instructions.
