English/Media Studies
(AQA Specification A)/(WJEC)

 

Course content:

  • A Shakespeare text
  • A novel
  • Creative writing
  • Media texts eg. print/TV adverts
  • Poetry from poets around the world
  • Write to argue/persuade/advise/inform/describe/explain
  • Speaking and Listening tasks

In addition to the FOUR pieces of coursework, there are a further THREE pieces for Media Studies.

Coursework will cover:

Textual analysis - compare historical media texts with contemporary ones eg. adverts

Pre-production - candidates plan the production of a media text, but do not actually produce it. An example would be a film storyboard. Candidates must also submit an evaluation.

Production - candidates produce a media text, such as a newspaper front page, radio advertisements, pages from a magazine etc. Candidates must also submit an evaluation.
