www.do-it.org.uk The do-it database contains UK (and overseas) volunteering opportunities. It suggests volunteering options by taking into account your interest area and times you are available.

www.mvonline.gov.uk Millennium Volunteers (MV) is an initiative for anyone aged 16-24. It offers the chance to get involved in local projects, such as sports coaching, environmental issues, music and drama. Those who complete 100 hours of voluntary activity receive an MV Award; 200 hours is accredited with an MV Award of Excellence. Enquire at your local Jobcentre Plus or Connexions/careers service.

www.volunteering.org.uk Volunteering England - National volunteering info or find your local Volunteer Centre to find out what voluntary work is available locally and put you in touch with local organisations.

www.timebank.org.uk TimeBank matches your skills, interests and vailability with suitable voluntary opportunities in the UK and abroad.

www.wwv.org.uk The Worldwide Volunteering database, which carries over 300,000 volunteer opportunities and can be matched with an individual's availability and experience.

www.csv.org.uk Community Service Volunteers (CSV) - A charity that provides full-time volunteering in community-based projects throughout Britain for people aged 16+. Volunteers can start at any time of the year, for a period of four to 12 months. No previous experience or skills required. Each volunteer receives free accommodation and food, plus a weekly allowance.

www.btcv.org BTCV Conservation Centre - Offers volunteer officer placements lasting several months, suitable for those interested in an environmental career. (Also offers one-day projects and short working holidays.)

www.rspb.org.uk/volunteering Royal Society for the Protection of Birds - Provides opportunities to spend time on a local RSPB reserve, or a week or more as a residential voluntary warden (long-term placements are available) learning practical conservation management skills. Also, opportunities in administration and for members’ group leaders around the UK. Age 16+.

www.yorkshire-wildlife-trust.org.uk practical conservation work, inspiring the next generation about wildlife, helping at events, monitoring the local press, keeping an eye on our sheep, PR and media work are just some of the opportunities to volunteer.

www.nationaltrust.org.uk National Trust - Community, Learning and Volunteering. Provides opportunities to get involved with conservation and heritage work all year round, through full-time volunteering opportunities from a weekend to a year, or volunteering locally in your spare time.

www.nationaltrust.org.uk/workingholidays National Trust Working Holidays - Weekend and weeklong working holidays for people of all ages, including Youth Discovery Projects exclusively for 16- to 18- year-olds. Work involves environmental conservation and countryside management. See also voluntary opportunities with the NT described above. Working holidays can be searched and booked online.

Leonard Cheshire - Volunteer Support. Charity providing support services for people with disabilities. Opportunities include assisting disabled people to pursue leisure activities and one-to-one befriending. Most volunteers work locally on a regular, part-time basis.

www.corrymeela.org Corrymeela Community - Age 18+. Six- or 12- month projects. A Christian community committed to the work of reconciliation in Ireland and beyond. (Also, short-term summer workcamps.)

www.cathedralcamps.org.uk Cathedral Camps - Age 16-30. Conservation work in cathedrals and other historic religious buildings. Volunteers contribute £75 per week for food and accommodation, although some bursaries and grants may be available.

www.britarch.ac.uk Council for British Archaeology - CBA Briefing gives details of digs which require helpers, and is published within the journal British Archaeology. The journal is also available on the website.. There are volunteer opportunities with the Young Archaeologists' Club (clubs for children aged 9-16).

www.qva.org.uk Quaker Voluntary Action - Various long-term projects. Open to all nationalities, religions and abilities. Age 18+.

www.toch.org.uk TOC H - Age 16+. Projects of between two and fourteen days, including working with children with special needs; playschemes; conservation work.
