enterprise education
Young people need opportunities to be enterprising through applying their knowledge, skills and attributes - to 'make their mark' both inside the school and their external community.' Put simply, students should have the opportunity to develop financial skills that can be taken into the real world and used in a practical way such as learning to manage money, understanding credit, mortgages and bank loans.
Enterprise Education should also facilitate economic and business understanding. This can be achieved by allowing students to take part in setting up a real business or project that can develop a risk-taking attitude and help them understand the economic environment.
Why is Enterprise Education important at St. Aidan's
The skills that students gain are often of a very practical nature. In summary, five key things students will take away from their time at St. Aidan's are:
- Communication skills (team working and presentations)
- Financial and economic understanding
- Develop a risk taking attitude to life and business
- Understand the world of work (meeting deadlines)
- Learn to develop and implement ideas into action
