Funky Junk team

Funky Junk

Funky Junk a Year 12 Young Enterprise company ended a fantastic year in winning the Area Final at the Pavillions Hotel in Harrogate. The team involved over twenty members all contributing in Finance, Marketing, Human Resources and Production.

The presentation was headed up by Tim Cotterill (Managing Director), Lucy Evans (Marketing), Chris Hare (Finance), Tom Bradshaw (Finance) and Alex Mackay (Marketing), which involved competing with seven other schools in the local area.

The judges praised the team, both in terms of their profitability (over £400 profit) and their social enterprise idea that involved recycling old computer chipboards into clocks.

The team have the chance to compete down in London if they manage to win their next stage test. Funky Junk won £250 for the school and secured three trophies which involved 'Most Innovative Product'.

Plant People

A Year 10 Enterprise Group headed up by Alex Hayward (Managing Director) have finished the year in style making over £300 profit providing a range of flowers and plants to both staff and parents over the course of a year. The team also included Rachel Tulley, Martha Riggs, Laura McKenzie and Jack Farrar who contributed greatly to their success.

Bank of England/Times Interest Rate Challenge

In November 2006 a team of Associated 6th Form economists took part in the Leeds regional heat of the Bank of England/Times Interest Rate Challenge. Having presented to a panel of judges on what interest rate would provide the best chance of meeting the Government's inflation target of 2%, they were delighted to be awarded regional runners-up status. An excellent learning experience enjoyed thoroughly by all who took part.
