Aims and Objectives of the Biology Department

Through the study of Biology we aim to:

  • promote an enthusiastic interest in Biology
  • enable students to develop their knowledge and understanding of key biological concepts
  • enable students to achieve their full potential through well planned and stimulating lessons, from experienced staff
  • discussion of the importance of biology within issues that attract media attention ie. gene technology, biotechnology, pollution and health
  • encourage problem solving and independent study through tasks set on a regular basis
  • develop skills in data handling, ICT, practical investigations and communication
