Biology Field Trips
Year 12 Visit to Runswick Bay
During the summer term of Year 12, we take all of the students to the North Yorkshire coastline to study zonation of rocky shore organisms and to carry out a short personal project planned by the students prior to the visit.
Students work in pairs to study a transect from the splash zone to the low-water mark of the shore and record how the abundance of species changes. They then work independently on the shore according to the problem they have decided to investigate and the strategy they have devised. We usually finish with an icecream.
