YEAR 7 TRIPS

Northumberland

In Year 7 the pupils have the chance to make a residential trip over a weekend to Northumberland. This trip has been taking place for well over 30 years and gives all pupils in Year 7 the opportunity to study the history, geography and religious background of the area.

Pupils leave school early on the Friday morning visiting Durham Cathedral and then the Old Fulling Mill Museum during the morning.

Lunch is normally taken by the river in Durham before the pupils journey further north to Warkworth, where they stop to study a classic Motte and Bailey castle

The pupils stay in hotel accommodation in Bamburgh. In the evening, the pupils will have an opportunity to participate in team games and collaborative activities on the beach.

Northumberland

Saturday involves a visit to Holy Island and specifically to the church where the Vicar gives a talk on St. Aidan, after whom the school is named, followed by a boat trip to the Bird Sanctuary at the Farne Islands. These activities are determined by the tides which cover the Causeway to Holy Island each day.

On the return journey on the Sunday there is a visit to Beamish Open Air Museum. All pupils are returned to either Ripon or Harrogate by 5pm on the Sunday - many of whom are exhausted from their endeavours!
