YEAR 10

Year 10 is the busiest year of all with several residential visits on offer to pupils.

French Exchange

Villard de Lans Villard de Lans

In late January - February there is an exchange visit to France with a school set in the small town of Villard-de-Lans, 40km from Grenoble. Pupils take part in school life, excursions and activities. They have an opportunity to gain insight into another culture and way of life, as well as improving their language skills. Click here to view the 2007 Powerpoint presentation

Loch Eil

In March pupils have the opportunity to go on a 7 day residential course to Loch Eil in Scotland based in a centre close to the foot of Ben Nevis. This is regarded as one of the most challenging and rewarding activity courses, which should appeal to anyone who has an interest in the outdoors. Great emphasis is put on the personal development and confidence building aspect of the activities that are undertaken.

The Rhine

Towards the end of May there is a six day all-inclusive coach visit to The Rhine, staying in a hotel on the banks of the river, There are visits to castles, towns and various places of interest as well as amusement parks. Again this is a very valuable opportunity for those studying German to develop their knowledge.

Flanders

In June pupils who are studying GCSE History have an opportunity to go to Flanders and Picardy on this four day trip. Two days are spent touring the battlefields of the First World War including the Somme in France and Flanders in Belgium, visiting preserved battlefield sites, trenches, memorials, cemetries and museums. Accommodation is in a high quality Youth Hostel.

Netherlands

For those studying GCSE Geography, again in June, there is a trip to the Netherlands which aims to supplement the work done in class. Activities include visits to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, a National Park and various evening events.

Salamanca

For those studying Spanish there is a visit to a language school in Salamanca with 4 hours of Spanish tuition each day. Students will stay with host families in pairs or threes on a full board basis. There are organised activities such as a tour of the City, a salsa dance class and a trip to the nearby mountains.

Australia Exchange

Ballarat

Following on from the success of the Year 9 Australia Exchange visit we have introduced a similar visit for Year 10 students.

Our students visit Ballarat Grammar School for approximately six weeks in June after the Australian students have come here for a similar period of time around Easter.
